Being an alternative wedding celebrant and author of the Gothic Wedding Planner means I’m often approached by different publications or press to talk about planning alternative weddings and events. I love speaking the message that it’s OK to have your wedding YOUR way, and helping other couples across the world get the wedding they want without breaking the bank.
Here are some of the wonderful blogs and publications who’ve featured me and the Gothic Wedding Planner:
Feature in Devolution Magazine, Issue 32, April 2012.
Vows that Wow: Writing Your Own Wedding Vows, Altared Magazine, Issue 1, Feb 2012.
Don’t Say it With Flowers: Bouquet Alternatives for the Un-Traditional Bride, Altared Magazine, Issue 1, Feb 2012.
Review: Gothic Wedding Planner, on Ultimate Goth Guide, 14 March 2012.
“I loved the combination of sensible, no-nonsense advice (right down to worksheets) with whimsical suggestions on designing every aspect of your perfect wedding (without breaking the bank), however outlandish or unusual your style, aesthetic or chosen theme – right down to a list of darkly delightful song suggestions for your first dance (everything from The Cure’s Lovesong to, ahem, Monster Mash) – all presented in Steff’s trademark warm, witty manner. Very enjoyable, and I’m keeping it on hand for future reference!” – Amy

Under the Spotlight: Steff Metal – Gothic Wedding Planner and Celebrant, Rock n Roll Bride, Oct 2011
Why do you feel your business is perfect for a Rock n Roll couple?
I’ve been in your shoes before. I know what it’s like planning a wedding people perceive as weird. I’ve dealt with the people who stare at me in public and taunt me about who I am. I get it, and I think there should always be a place or person you can go where you can feel comfortable – that’s the concept I’ve built my business around.
Interview: Gothic Wedding Planner and Celebrant Steff Metal, I Do Too, 5 Sept 2011.
What’s the first step to planning a Gothic Wedding?
Do you mean apart from finding someone amazing to marry? The first thing you need to do is decide on your theme – the style and mood you want to create on your wedding day. Gothic weddings have a very strong and distinct aesthetic – just like Goths themselves! Do you want a steampunk fantasy with steam trains and a clockwork cake, a Victorian fairy tale in a haunted mansion, or a rock’n’roll Halloween party with a great live band?

“Reading this planner is like getting good advice from a seasoned friend. Steff covers all the elements of weddings that you know, and the ones that you hadn’t thought of. I had a lot of surprises when I was wedding planning because I didn’t really have many married friends. Having this planner is the same as having a smarty-pants friend, only she doesn’t second-guess your ideas.” – Kay
