On 11 November, I was blessed to officiate at a truly unique wedding ceremony. James and Jen Knoeson wanted to tie the knot like Arwen and Aragorn in true Lord of the Rings style. In the picturesque gardens of the Bridgewater Country Estate, the couple said their vows dressed in elven finery, and I performed a handfasting ceremony and knighted them with Aragorn’s sword. I wore a long white cloak and fancied myself as Gandalf the white. Afterward, we were entertained by a magician while the couple took photographs, before being treated to a lovely meal and a Minas Tirith cake! What a magical day!
A reporter from the NZ Women’s Weekly was there, and she wrote this wonderful article, which appeared in the magazine last week. Can you see me in there? I’ve added the scans to my press and media album on my NZ Wedding Celebrant facebook page. Pictures and a Real Wedding profile of this unique wedding will be coming soon!
If you want to create a NZ wedding ceremony that’s unique and special, I’m available to perform alternative wedding ceremonies in any part of New Zealand.
