Steampunk Wedding Shoot: Heritage, Jess Manning Photography, Cog and Compass and more.
I am a lucky girl to have such talented friends. When I sent a message out on Facebook asking my crew if anyone wanted to help me put together a steampunk-themed shoot, within a day I had a solid crew of designers, photographers, cupcake bakers, makeup artists and models ready at my beck and call.
And what do you DO with such a talented bunch? Why, you give them a brief and let their creative minds loose, of course. I wanted to show future brides and grooms that a brilliant, creative, alternative wedding didn’t need a ridiculous budget. By assembling a wonderful team of creative friends and vendors around you, there’s no limit to what you can create, even if your pocketbook is bare.
I present to you, a Steff-and-friends Steampunk-inspired wedding!
Since I am now a registered New Zealand Wedding Celebrant, I am officiating this wedding.
The Pumphouse Theatre in Takapuna kindly lent us the interior of their spectacular theatre (built from an old Victorian pumping station – the perfect venue for a steampunk wedding) for our wedding ceremony.
This beautiful steampunk ring pillow was custom-made and embroidered by Jaimee of Cog and Compass Costume and Couture. It’s currently on sale in her Etsy shop.
The Pumphouse has this delightful jetty, which we took full advantage of for some stunning shots.
After the wedding party returned from their photographs, everyone tucked into a gorgeous steampunk picnic spread, complete with tea, canapes, sandwiches, cog biscuits and steampunk wedding cupcakes.

One of the great things about wedding shoots is nomming all the yummy cupcakes!
